Comparing Style Index Performance: How Can The Russell and S&P Indexes Behave So Differently

$25

Authors: Jon A. Christopherson and Amy Barton

At first, this paper raised the reviewers' eyebrows.  Despite our policy of blind submissions, readers quickly surmised that the author was from Frank Russell.  Okay, once the dust settled, we asked ourselves if it was alright for the creators of one index to discuss the other guy's index.  Well, why not, providing he acknowledges the obvious bias?  The author graciously accepted our invitation to, as he put it, "deal with the partisan issue everywhere I could find an obvious Russell bias and Russell promotion." The result, we feel, is a valuable exploration of two indexes from a unique vantage point.  Of course, we would welcome a similar paper from the Standard & Poor's perspective.
