Try This Test

If you're at all uncertain about using or switching to The Spaulding Group
for your firm's GIPS® verification...if you are at all unsure...try this test:

First- Look back on all the years your firm has claimed compliance and been verified, look at every interaction you have had with your verifier.  Ask yourself these questions:

 • Was our firm serviced annually by the same senior-level specialist, who not only knew the standards but conducted a thorough and efficient     verification, leaving me with real confidence that our firm is, in fact, compliant?

 • Did my verifier bother to come to my offices?

 • Are we paying for examinations on composites in addition to our firm-wide verifications?  If we are, has our verifier ever tried to talk us out of this   expense, since it is unlikely that we are actually benefitting from these annual costs?

 • Did my verifier consistently try to exceed my expectations, keep me educated on the standards, and stay in touch throughout the year, offering, at no   charge, additional benefits such as on-going support and monthly educational webinars?

 • Did our verifier require us to sign a long-term contract, meaning that if we decide today to drop them, we would be obligated to use them in the coming   year or longer?

If you are looking to be verified for the first time, ask yourself, is this the type of service we expect and have a right to?

Next- When you have questions or concerns regarding the standards, or performance measurement in general, are they addressed in a timely manner, by an expert with more than 20 years of industry experience?  And, ask yourself if it is important for your firm to be kept up-to-date and made aware of any proposed changes to the standards that could affect your business or your claim of compliance?

And Finally- Please get on the phone with your current verifier, or the other verifiers you are considering, and tell them:

"This is what I expect.  I want our verification to be conducted only by senior-level professionals who truly know the standards, not someone who is a few months (or, at best, a year or two) out of college and still learning the industry.  I want to deal with the same individual(s) year after year, so that I can build a relationship with my verifier and not have to answer the same questions again and again.  I want a complimentary subscription to the only publication completely focused on performance measurement, and I want access to a monthly webinar series which will educate me and my team on the standards and performance measurement.  I want to know that if I have any questions or concerns that I will be given a practical answer, in a timely manner.  I want confidence that my firm is truly compliant, not rubber stamped.  And, I don't want to be locked into a long-term contract; if you do not adequately serve me and meet my needs, I want to be able to leave at anytime."

If your verifier or the verifiers you are considering can't promise you this, or if you decide you deserve more from your verifier, then give us the chance to deliver it.  If we can't, don't, or won't - then don't stay with us.  If we do, and we continue to exceed your expectations...you and your business will benefit long term.  Plus, if you bring us on and decide that our claims aren't valid, then we won't charge you for our time, only for any travel expenses we may incur.
