Sandra Hahn Colbert

It is with the deepest of regrets that I inform you of the passing of our very dear friend and colleague, Sandra Hahn Colbert. We just learned that Sandra died yesterday, July 21. Some details regarding the funeral arrangements are below.

We have known Sandra for close to 15 years. She was a member of the Performance Measurement Forum, and spoke at several of our PMAR conferences. She was also one of our favorite verification clients. She was responsible for operations and performance measurement for O’Shaughnessy Asset Management in Stamford, CT.

Sandra was a dedicated professional, having earned both her CFA and CIPM. She was proud of her profession, and accomplished a great deal. She was a tremendous representative of one who sought to learn and grow, as well as to accomplish. In our Forum meetings, she was always one who was willing to share her views, and provide insights and ideas.  Always eager and willing to volunteer her time, she served on a variety of committees on behalf of our industry.

The last time we saw Sandra was at this year’s PMAR conference in Philadelphia. For the past few years we’ve had a 5K “Rocky Run,” and this year we added a “Rocky walk,” which she participated in. This photo was taken of the walkers from the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum; Sandra is second from the right. While it may not be the best photo of her, it captures her smile, which she frequently wore.

We have not only lost a true professional, but a wonderful young woman, too. Those of us at TSG, as well as many of you, have lost a good friend: someone who we came to know and love. I will miss her greatly, as I so much enjoyed spending time with her (both professionally and personally). Our hearts and prayers go out to her family at this very difficult time; her children are no doubt in a state of shock, just as we are. But for them, it’s even more difficult: we lost a friend, but they lost a loving, caring, and dedicated mother.

May our Lord provide comfort to her family and friends; may He welcome her with open arms, and may she rest in peace.

p.s., Sandra’s former employer, created a memorial page on their website for Sandra. They humbled me by including a quote of mine. She is missed by so many, as evidenced by some of the comments we received.
